Moving Banktivity to a new computer

The best way to move Banktivity to a new computer is using our cloud sync service.

Here's what you'll do:

Setup Cloud Sync from with your original computer

1. Launch Banktivity on your Mac and open the ledger you want to use with Cloud Sync. Next, choose Ledger > Enable Cloud Sync... to begin the setup process.
2. Choose a password to encrypt the cloud ledger. You must not forget the password - it is required to set up other devices to sync with this cloud ledger.

At this point the assistant will show a progress bar until all of your data has been uploaded to the Cloud Sync server. Once it completes, you can begin setting up the other computer to sync with this newly created cloud ledger.

On the new computer:

1. Download the current version of Banktivity for Mac from our website here: https://www.banktivity.com/download.php
2. Launch Banktivity.
3. Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
4. On the "Thanks for downloading Banktivity!"" screen, choose 'Already a customer? Log in'
5. On the next screen log in to your Banktivity User Account
6. Choose the shared ledger you want to open and double-click on it.
7. Enter the shared ledger encryption password required to open the ledger.
8. Wait for the ledger to download.

That's it! You should now see the same data on the new computer that is on the old computer. You can now safely remove Banktivity from the original computer.
