Why are my bonds valued incorrectly?

Typically, if you are seeing an inflated bond investment value in Banktivity it is caused by an incorrect PAR value set for your bond. By default the PAR value for bonds in Banktivity is set to 1000, but that may not be the case for each of your bonds.

Once you locate a bond that has an incorrect value in Banktivity for Mac, you can adjust the PAR value for the bond. This is done by going to View > Go To > Securities. From the list of securities, double-click on the bond that needs to be adjusted. This will open a pop-up window that will show the security details. Change the PAR value to the proper figure, then click in the Name field before clicking “Save”.

In Banktivity for iOS, from the Summary screen, scroll down and tap on Configuration, then tap Manage Securities. From the list of securities that appears, tap on the one you want to edit. In the window that appears with the words ‘Edit Security’ at the top, tap on the Edit button in the top right, then tap inside the Par Value field and overwrite the contents. When finished, tap ‘Done’ in the top right corner. Then, tap outside of the popup window to dismiss it.

The PAR value is usually either 1, 10, 100 or 1000. You should be able to get the correct PAR value from your bank/brokerage if the default value needs to be adjusted
